Fort Lauderdale Woman Charged With DUI Manslaughter

alyza russellAlyza Rachel Russell, a 22 year-old Fort Lauderdale woman has been charged with DUI manslaughter after striking and killing 2 men on June 13, 2013. The fatal DUI incident occurred around 2 a.m. as Russell traveled down Broward Boulevard and plowed through some bushes after attempting to make a southbound turn onto Southwest Fifth Avenue.

Russell surrendered to police at the Broward County Jail at 7 a.m. and was charged with 2 counts of unlawful blood alcohol level manslaughter, unlawful blood alcohol level property damage as well as DUI property damage. According to toxicology reports, Russell had a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .17% at the time of the fatal crash but investigators have yet to release details regarding the exact substances in her system. Russell was driving her 2012 Porsche when she missed a turn and hit Mackendy Jules and Samuel Artez Martindale, who were both sitting in a parking lot.
