Pippi Longstocking Actress Tami Erin Arrested For DUI

tami erinActress Tami Erin, best known for her role on “Pippi Longstocking”, was arrested for felony hit-and-run as well as DUI on December 14, 2013. The incident took place in Los Angeles late Saturday afternoon when Erin allegedly hit 3 separate vehicles and fled the scene. According to police, Tami Erin was given a field sobriety test and failed. Police also said that the actress was “totally out of control…just out of it” upon her arrest.

Since the arrest, Tami Erin has been held on $100,000 bail. While no serious injuries have been reported, one person was taken to the hospital after Erin struck one of the vehicles. Erin was also arrested in April after her roommate accused her of assault. Erin has yet to release a statement and it is still unclear what her blood alcohol content (BAC) level at the time of the incident. Tami Erin has done little since her role in Pippi Longstocking, but was recently thrown back into the spotlight when a sex tape of her was leaked to the public.

Buffalo Man Gets Snowplow DWI

snow plowIt’s not uncommon for someone to receive a DWI while driving a lawn mower or golf cart during the warm seasons of the year, however, one man in Buffalo, New York was recently given a snowplow DWI. 47-year-old James Evans was driving a city snowplow truck when he allegedly struck a building at around 5 a.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2013. Authorities also said that Evans struck a cab not long after hitting the building.

According to police, Evans was found later at his home where police charged him with criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an injury accident in addition to the snowplow DWI. Apparently, the driver in the cab that Evans struck was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if Evans performed any field sobriety tests or what his blood alcohol content (BAC) level was when police arrested him. City officials have stated that Evans has been suspended without pay following the incident.

The Monitor reported that in Edinburg, Texas, John Carlos Treviño, son of Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño, was arrested on Monday for DWI charges. The news story stated that Treviño received some injuries including broken ribs, a fractured spine, and a punctured lung. It was reported that when Treviño showed up at the courthouse to speak with a judge about his legal situation, he was wearing a neck brace and using a cane for support. In addition, a representative from the Texas Department of Public Safety told the news source that the agency was awaiting toxicology test results after the single-vehicle crash before making any determination regarding possible charges. Treviño was arrested for the DWI charges, but was released on a personal recognizance bond. It was noted that in addition to the DWI charges, Treviño is also facing a separate public intoxication charge out of McAllen.

The Monitor reported that in Texas, a police officer from La Joya ISD was arrested and charged with a DWI. The officer, Raul Garcia, was arrested on Thanksgiving for suspicion of DWI, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. According to the news story, Garcia was arrested when a police officer saw him run a stop sign. At the moment that Garcia pulled over, the officer noticed him throw out a small object before stopping. Apparently the small object was a bag filled with 0.39 grams of cocaine. It was reported that Garcia refused to take a breath exam and that police found two opened beer cans that spilled into the driver’s seat and a Beretta .40-caliber handgun in the car’s trunk. One of the many charges that Garcia received was a DWI. He received a bail bond of $30,000 and was placed on leave without pay by Raul Gonzalez, La Joya ISD police chief. Gonzalez commented on Garcia’s DWI by stating, “His actions don’t reflect the work of the men and women in this department…”

River Falls Journal reported that in River Falls, Wisconsin, a drunk driver crashed into a beauty salon and received a DWI. The drunk driver, which remained unnamed, is a 43 year old local from the town. According to the news story, last Wednesday, he stopped at Little Caesars for a pizza and claimed his parked Ford pickup truck went backwards on its own into the entry glass door of Tip Top Nails salon. The drunk driver supposedly told police officials that his truck’s gears don’t always stay fastened. The story also stated that he told police officials that he had been drinking quite a lot. He was administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was then arrested. Fortunately, nobody reported any injuries or was hurt. The only damages done were to the beauty salon’s foundation, which was reportedly pushed in. No further information was released pertaining the drunk driver’s legal case.

Detective Gets Charged With DUI

CBS 6 reported that during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, a Virginia detective was charged with a DUI. The detective, Jack Larry, was arrested for DUI and refusal to submit to a breath test. Larry was driving a 2013 Volkswagen on Interstate-64 when police officials stopped him for speeding. According to the news story, it was at that moment that the legal officers smelled an alcohol odor on Larry and realized that he was probably intoxicated. Todd Stone, a legal analyst, told sources, “… you consent to have a sample of your breath taken if there’s probable cause for DUI…If you refuse the test, and you’re found guilty, it means an automatic one-year suspension of your license.”

Surprisingly, alongside Larry rode the assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Richmond. The assistant,  Brooke Pettit,  was charged with being drunk in public. It is unclear as to why Pettit received that charge. Stone stated, “It’s pretty uncommon to see a passenger charged with drunk in public…there has to be very visual proof that something is in your system to be charged with that…” It was determined that Larry is currently on administrative leave. CNY Central reported that in Oneonta, New York, a woman received a DWI and was arrested for driving drunk to a courthouse. According to the news story, police officials received a phone call from a witness, stating that an intoxicated woman  was walking inside the court house and then getting into her car and trying to drive away. The drunk woman, Carolyn Murray, was stopped by a town constable as she tried to reverse. It was then that the constable gave her a breathalyzer test, which determined that  she had a blood alcohol content level of .17%- almost twice the legal drinking limit. Murray, 45 years old, was arrested and charged with a DWI. No further information was released pertaining Murray’s legal situation or DWI.

Disney Star, Jake T. Austin, Gets DUI

TMZ.com reported that Jake T. Austin, who used to be a Disney star, was busted for DUI just last month in the SAME CAR that was involved in the 4-car hit-and-run crash this morning. According to the news source, Austin was arrested earlier in October after police officers stopped him for driving without his headlights turned on. He was administered several field sobriety tests and blew a .08 on a breathalyzer. Austin was arrested and received a DUI. According to sources, he has to report to court tomorrow. Strangely, at the time he was busted, Austin was driving the 2010 Audi with New York plates — the same car that slammed into multiple cars early this morning. The police report stated that the Audi driver threw a vodka bottle out of the vehicle and took off before police officers arrived. A witness told the news source that “she is ‘100%’ that the driver of the hit-and-run is Austin.” It was noted that although legal authorities won’t be able to charge the driver with a DUI, a felony charge for hit-and-run can still be administered.

Willie Davis51 year-old Willie Earl Davis has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was arrested for operating a four-wheeler under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Davis was arrested in June 2012 after an officer spotted him driving his four-wheeler near Pinkerton and Jonathan Street in Athens, Texas. A repeat DWI offender, this is Davis’ 5th DWI conviction.

Initially, the officer was just going to issue Davis a citation for illegal use of a four wheeler on a public road but detected an odor of alcohol on him while writing the citation. It was then that the repeat DWI offender admitted to the officer that he had been drinking. Davis was asked to perform several field sobriety tests and allegedly “quickly became angry and refused to submit to any of the tests and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated“.

CBS Local reported that Monticello, New York’s mayor, Gordon Jenkins, was arrested this past weekend for DWI. On Sunday evening, Jenkins reported to an accident scene to assist in the investigation of a car crash. It was then that a firefighter noticed that Jenkins was acting drunk and informed police officers of it. It was reported that Jenkins was arrested on the spot. He refused to take a breathalyzer test and received charges for a DWI, obstruction of justice, and criminal mischief. The story reported that he allegedly broke a clock inside the police station and spent Saturday night handcuffed to a chair in the police headquarters before being released on $2,500 bail.Carmen Rue, one of the mayor’s leading critics and Village Trustee, noted that this is not the first time that Jenkins has problems with the law. She stated, “I really call at the mayor to resign…he cannot perform his duty…as a mayor.” Jenkins was scheduled to appear in court on Friday for his DWI.
