jaser

Khalil Jaser of Burlingame was arrested on July 28 on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, and two days after his arrest he began tweeting his frustration; his tweets included statesments such as, “Officer Robert Guayadacan come clean…Brisbane police should hire a 100000 officers” and “I am dead serious, you have 24 hours….or else!!”. He also left seven threatening voicemails on the officer’s phone, alledgedly telling the officer that he “better not go to work” and “Boom, you’re dead motherf—–.” The harrassed officer supposedly called Jaser on Sept. 5 and asked him what he meant by his threats, to which Jaser allegedly replied that he knew what he meant. Following their conversation, Jaser reportedly began a three-week influx of calls and messages to the officer. Jaser allegedly called the officer 152 times total and left 54 messages.

Jaser is now going to trial for harassment, threats, and resisting arrest charges. He did not appear for his court date which resulted in San Mateo County Judge Jonathan Karesh to issue a $150,000 bench warrant. Jaser last tweeted, “I love the song of freedom and flying fish in the gulf,” on January 25.

Former Candidate for Hidalgo County Constable Arrested for DWI

Former Candidate for Constable Arrested for DWI

Former Hidalgo County constable candidate Robert Ricardo Maldonado was arrested for DWI Wednesday when Hidalgo County deputy constables found his truck driving on the shoulder of the road near Farm-to-Market Road 491 and Mile 10 North. Maldonado’s campaign for constable fell apart when he was formally charged with money laundering that had ties to the Gulf Cartel.

Maldonado was arrested in February 2012 when DPS found nearly $1 million in the trunk of his car during a traffic stop close to Victoria; the cash was in 108 bundles and, at the time of the traffic stop, Maldonado was already being investigated for being a drug carrier for Mexico’s Gulf Cartel. He was arrested and released on $125,000 bail and soon after, Maldonado’s estate was raided by federal agencies where he had several exotic animals. However, an indictment in that case was never filed and no federal charges have been filed against Maldonado.

Thus, Maldonado lost his April 2012 bid for Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Constable. Between 2003 and 2007, Maldonado had worked as a narcotics officer with Hidalgo County. He had also worked as a DPS trooper however was terminated from that position in 1994 when he was charged with aggravated assault, charges that were later dismissed.

In the recent traffic stop that led to his DWI arrest, Maldonado refused to take a Breathalyzer test. He was released from custody after posting a bail of $1,500.

Drunk Man Drives into Swamp while Eating Fried Chicken is Rescued by Police

Drunk Man Drives into Swamp While Eating Fried Chicken

Danny Mallicoat was rescued by police on Wednesday after he drove his vehicle into a swamp. According to police, Mallicoat drove into a business on SR 43. Then, he drove through the lot, alongside the building, then out of the lot, and into a swamp. Sergeant Knarr and Officer Putnam were able to wade into the swamp and help him out of his vehicle. After he was on solid ground again, the officers began an OVI investigation.

Sgt. Knarr performed a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGM) test by asking Mallicoat to follow his finger with his eyes. Mallicoat misunderstood the directions and instead followed Sgt. Knarr’s finger with his own finger. Chief David Oliver said on the Broomfield Police Department Facebook page, “The driver page homage to E.T. by following Sgt. Knarr’s finger with his own finger instead of using his eyes….Land sakes!!”

Mallicoat was reportedly eating fried chicken when he went into the swamp. Initial tests show that his blood alcohol level was .206%, which is more than double the legal limit in Ohio. Mallicoat was arrested for OVI.

Drunk Driver Michael Snider Crashes 17 Times, Kills One Person

70 Year Old Drunk Driver Crashes 17 Times

Police are reporting that a 70-year-old man is the culprit of 17 DUI hit-and-runs that resulted in a fatal crash in the Atlantic suburbs on Wednesday night. Police say that Michael Owen Snider repeatedly drove his pickup truck into other motorists; one of those motorists was 51-year-old Yeshihareg Abebe whose gray Toyota Camry slammed into the back of a tractor trailer due to the impact of Snider’s truck. Her passenger, 69-year-old Mintiwab Woldeyhans died on the scene. After that, Snider crashed his truck into John Boy’s Home Cooking Restaurant where he knocked down a pillar.

According to investigators, the string of hit-and-run crashes began in DeKalb County where Snider allegedly hit five different vehicles which caused five separate accidents. Snider then drove to Gwinnett County where he was involved in 12 hit-and-run accidents, the last one being the collision with the gray Toyota Camry. When Snider got out of his truck, witnesses pinned him against the wall.

Dennis Brown spoke to Channel 2 Action News about the event, and said that Snider had purposefully ran his truck into the back of his Chrysler Pacifica. Brown said, “He intentionally tried to hit me, so that’s when he chased me, literally he chased me, on the road. It was like a video game. Really, I couldn’t believe he was trying to do that.” In a separate incident, Manuel and Jenetta Johnson reported that Snider had hit their sedean repeatedly on the highway. Jenetta said, “I just thought we were going to die. I just knew he was going to kill us. He would not stop hitting us. He was just ramming us and ramming us, and then he hit the gas and went around.”

Tampa Attorney Arrested for DUI and Delays his Client’s Trial

An Attorney is Arrested for DUI in Tampa which Delays his Client’s Trial by One Day

Attorney Phil Campbell was arrested for DUI on Wednesday, putting a day’s hold on the trial he was right in the middle of. Phil Campbell is representing radio personality Todd “MJ” Schnitt in a suit against radio personality “Bubba the Love Sponge Clem”. Phillip Campbell, 64, was arrested after he was pulled over and refused to take a blood alcohol level test. Police reports said that Campbell smelled of alcohol and had glassy, red eyes. Campbell was released from jail on a $500 bond. This is his second arrest for DUI in the last five years.

The alleged defamatory statements suit was put on hold for a day due to Campbell’s DUI arrest. His client, Schnitt, has said on his show repeatedly that he would fire anyone who worked for him if they were arrested for DUI. Neither Schnitt nor Campbell had a comment to those remarks on Thursday morning. The trial is expected to resume, as long as Schnitt does not fire Campbell over his DUI arrest.

FBI Launches Investigation into DWI Cases in St. Charles Parish

FBI Subpoenaes 1,200 St. Charles Parish Court Records of DWI Cases

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has subpoenaed 1,200 records from the St. Charles Parish Clerk of Court’s Office; the records involve driving while intoxicated (DWI) cases from Jan. 1, 2009 to May 31, 2012, which was during the final term of former District Attorney Harry Morel. The records subpoenaed by the FBI asked for documents of “all individuals who were arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) for which court files exist, whether or not the case was prosecuted, not prosecuted, dismissed, refused, or referred to pre-trial intervention.” Special agent Michael Zummer said, “Unfortunately, I can’t comment about any kind of grand jury investigation.”

The current St. Charles Parish District Attorney is Joel Chaisson who took office in June 2012. Chaisson comment on the subpoena by saying he is assisting the FBI with obtaining the documents but that there is no other comment he can make on the subject. He said, “Since their inquiry is ongoing, I have been asked by them not to make any comment other than to say that this matter does not involve me or current district attorney’s office staff in any way.” The DWI documents were picked up by a federal authority on January 17th.

Minnesota Man Wins Appeal for DWI on Segway

Man Successfully Fights Segway DWI Charges

The Minnesota Appeals Court has sided with Mark Greenman, a 48-year-old attorney, who argued that he could not be charged with DWI because his Segway could not be considered a motor vehicle. Segways fall into an exemption in DWI statute which classifies them as personal mobility devices, similar to mobility scooters or electric scooters. Minnesota has previously convicted motorists of drunk driving on Zambonis, tractors, and even one case of a motorized La-Z-Boy.

The first court to hear Greenway’s case and the appeals court have both found Segways exempt from DWI laws, however the city of Medina is still considering whether or not to appeal to the state Supreme Court. The city council will weigh on whether the issue is worth the time and money to pursue. The Segway operates under 12 miles per hour, and Greenway argued that at this speed a Seway cannot be considered a motorized vehicle fit for roadways.

Mark Greenman is a 48-year-old employment attorney who was charged with DWI after he rode his Segway from a bar to his home in Medina. Greenman was arrested in 2010 for driving drunk while on a Segway and a judge in that case granted his motion to dismiss the case. Greenman had a broken ankle at the time of the 2010 arrest.

Former New Hampshire Attorney General Peter Heed Pleads Guilty to DWI

Peter Heed, avid canoe racer and former New Hampshire AG, pleads guilty to DWI

Cheshire County attorney and former New Hampshire Attorney General Peter Heed has plead guilty to first-DWI charges. He was arrested earlier in the month after a Trooper received a report of an erratic driver on Route 9. Heed was arrested for DWI and was released on bail.

Peter Heed was President of the United States Canoe Association for four years. He served as County Attorney for Cheshire County and was the New Hampshire Attorney General from 2002-2003. Peter Heed resigned as Attorney General over alleged misconduct that took place at a state-sponsored conference on preventing sexual and domestic abuse.

Peter Heed will pay a $500 fine and his driver’s license will be suspended for nine months. Heed can petition to reinstate his driver’s license 90 days into his suspension if he successfully completes the Impaired Driver Care Management Plan within 14 days of his conviction. Heed’s sentence is standard for a first-time New Hampshire DWI offense that does not have extenuating circumstances such as a high blood alcohol level (above .16%), or an accident with serious injury, or an attempt to elude police.

Heed told Keene area news outlets, “I sincerely regret any error I may have made and I will address it in a straightforward way.”
