DUI Suspect Leads Police on Chase, Throws Hatchet from Window

DUI Suspect Throws Hatchet Out of Car Window

A DUI suspect led police on a chase over wet roads in North Hills, a community in the San Fernando Valley of the city of Los Angeles. A helicopter was used to follow the DUI suspect and three patrol cars were in land pursuit. The DUI suspect ran several red lights and pulled over twenty minutes after the chase began and surrendered. The suspect allegedly threw a hatchet and some burglary tools from their car. When the DUI suspect exited the vehicle, the car continued rolling, possibly because they forgot to put the car in park. Police administered a field sobriety test. The officers found methamphetamine packaged for sale in the car, and the suspect was driving on a suspended license. He faces charges including possession of narcotics for sale.
