UFC Fighter Jon Jones “Wiser” After DWI Arrest

UFC Fighter Jon Jones “Wiser” After DWI Arrest

jon jonesUFC fighter Jon Jones has said that his arrest for DWI back in May 2012 has made him a “wiser” man, among other things. On May 19, 2012, Jones was involved in a single vehicle accident after crashing his 2012 Bentley into a telephone pole around 5 am in Binghamton, New York. Jones is said to have suffered only minor injuries and was arrested for DWI. Jones remained relatively quiet about the incident, only tweeting “God is good,” shortly after the accident. Now, Jones has opened up a little more about the accident and its profound effect on his life.

The UFC Light Heavyweight Champion said that he felt like he’s grown from the experience and is “wiser, stronger, smarter because of all that stuff.” Jones has seen his share of ups and downs during his career in the UFC, ranging from a cancelled UFC event as well as another vehicular accident in 2011 that resulted in a woman driving the other vehicle being carried away in a stretcher. It would appear to Jones’ fans that he has not only learned first hand the serious consequences of driving drunk, but is grateful to have not lost the chance to continue his successful career in the UFC. Jon Jones concluded by saying, “I’m alive to see 2013 and I’m blessed and I’m grateful.”

MLB Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk Pleads Guilty To DUI

MLB Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk Pleads Guilty To DUI

carlton fiskCarlton Fisk, a former White Sox Hall of Famer, has plead guilty to misdemeanor DUI after being arrested for DUI earlier this year in New Lenox, Illinois. Fisk was arrested on October 22, 2012 after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his F-150 truck in a field. The truck was still running when police found Fisk as well as an opened bottle of vodka. The retired pitcher had apparently mixed his prescription medication with alcohol before crashing into the farm field. Carlton Fisk played for the White Sox for 13 years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame 7 years after retiring in 1993.

Fisk took responsibility for his actions and signed a guilty plea with his lawyer saying in court, “This is no pun, but he stepped up to the plate and said, ‘I want to accept responsibility for what I did’. I admire that.“. Will County Judge Bennett Braun ordered Fisk to pay $1,250 in court costs and sentenced him to a year of court supervision. Fisk will also have to attend a victim-impact panel, drug and alcohol evaluations as well as substance abuse counseling. Fisk will have his drivers license reinstated as well, since prosecutors agreed that the arrested officers gave him inaccurate warning about refusing blood alcohol tests, which he did. Another one of Fisk’s attorneys said, “He realizes that kids look up to him, and he’s a role model“.

Actor Michael Madsen Gets DUI

Actor Michael Madsen Gets DUI

Michael Madsen, one of the starring actors from “Reservoir Dogs”, was recently charged with two counts of DUI from his previous arrest in September.  Sources stated that Madsen had been stopped by police officials while he was “hotrodding around Malibu in his badass Pontiac GTO.” Legal personnel claimed that Madsen failed his field sobriety test when he blew .20 on the breathalyzer, which is roughly more than twice the California legal limit. Perry Wander, who is Madsen’s lawyer, tried to convince legal personnel that the “breathalyzer was ‘flawed’.”

Today, sources stated that “the Los Angeles City attorney filed 2 misdemeanor counts of DUI against Madsen — one for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and another for driving with a BAC of .08 or higher.” If found guilty, Madsen could be imprisoned for two years. However, the actor does not appear to have a history of DUI convictions so it is unlikely that he will be arrested. Wander told the media: “We intend to vigorously defend the charges.” The case proceedings will be continued and presented before a judge during the month of December.
