Michigan Man Arrested For Driving Drunk On Wheelchair

Michigan Man Arrested For Driving Drunk On Stolen Wheelchair

Earlier this year on May 27th, Utica police arrested a man for driving drunk on a motorized wheelchair, that he stole from his neighbor, James Konkel. Raymond Kulma, 55, failed to pass several field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of .241% which is 3 times the state’s legal limit. Apparently, Kulma was involved in a fight with his neighbor who said, “He threw a punch so I threw one back. But then I left, and police found him on my wheelchair”.

This is Kulma’s seventh arrest related to drunk driving and would technically be referred to as OWI(operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated) as opposed to DUI(driving under the influcence). Police Chief David Faber said, “He has quite the history and quite the drinking problem”. Kulma has had his driver’s license suspended 4 times and revoked 6 times due to his prior drunk driving arrests. Konkel did not press charges and says, “Sounds like he needs to spend some time in jail; maybe he’ll learn his lesson”. If convicted of OWI, Kulma could face jail time, another license suspension and a fine of up to $5,000.

Connecticut Man Caught Drinking Beer At DUI Checkpoint

David Caruso
David Caruso Caught Drinking Beer At DUI Checkpoint

Police officers in Vernon, Connecticut were in for quite the surprise when they caught a man driving through their DUI checkpoint, drinking beer. 51 year-old David Caruso(not the famous Hollywood actor) was arrested on August 4th when he strolled through the checkpoint drinking a beer. Saying this was a stupid decision might be an understatement, however, Caruso has had his driver’s license suspended for drunk driving before. It is still uncertain what Caruso was drinking beer out of or if he tried to hide the beer at all and how police identified the beer.

Apparently, Caruso hadn’t drank much beer or maybe chose a relatively weak beer because police didn’t have enough evidence to arrest him for DUI since his blood alcohol level was below the legal limit of .08%. Instead, he was charged with drinking while driving, operating an unregistered vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Caruso was released from jail after posting $2,500 bail.

George Boedecker
Croc’s Founder George Boedecker’s DUI Mugshot

On Sunday, August 12, 2012 police officers in Boulder, Colorado were in for quite the night when they responded to a call about a man being passed out in his 2010 Porsche making some interesting claims, to say the least. Medics had already begun treating the man when officers arrived and immediately described him as drunk as crap. That man was George Boedecker, whose famous style of shoes, known as “Croc’s”, you may be wearing.

Police reports state that Boedecker told officers he had pulled over to take a nap, then changed his story shortly thereafter, saying his girlfriend was driving and ran away after an argument between the two. Then, when the officers questioned Boedecker on the identity of his mysterious girlfriend he replied, “she’s really f*cking famous” and “batsh*t crazy”. He later revealed to police that that girl was famous singer Taylor Swift…who was actually about 2,000 miles away in Massachusetts. Boedecker then became verbally abusive with police officers when they attempted to question him further. Upon asking for Boedeckers address, he replied, “I have 17 f*cking homes” and when they placed him under arrest he continued with “Go f*ck yourselves in the a**”. If convicted of DUI, Boedecker could face jail time, hefty fines and license suspension. Taylor Swift, has not made any statement regarding Boedeckers ridiculous claims.

Broncos Player D.J. Williams Headed Back To Court For DUI Charge

D.J. Williams
Denver Broncos Player D.J. Williams

On November 12th, 2010, Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) at around 3 am. Police initially pulled the Broncos star over for driving without his headlights on but also found that he was driving drunk as well. Now Williams is set to appear in court this Wednesday after his lawyer Harvey Steinberg won a mistrial for objecting to the jury selection process. Apparently, Steinberg was only able to excuse 2 of the 3 jurors he was allotted. In addition to winning a mistrial, the trial had also been delayed several more times for various reasons including a dislocated elbow Williams suffered in a game.

Williams was stripped of his title as team captain after the DUI arrest and also for failing an offseason drug test, which resulted in a 6 game suspension. If convicted, his suspension could be extended. Williams was a top draft pick in 2004 from the University of Miami but his recent legal woes have cost him a starting spot on the team. In fact, Williams was only allowed to practice with the second string team after linebacker Keith Brooking suffered a pulled hamstring. Regardless of his legal troubles outside the NFL, the Broncos coaching staff still consider Williams a sound player since he did lead the NFL in tackles for the past 3 seasons. For now, Williams will not be practicing with the starters due to his pending suspension. With the jury seated Wednesday, testimony should be completed by the end of the day and Williams’ future with the Broncos may become a little clearer.

Naked DUI Arrest for a Former Pastor in Michigan

Rev. Peter Petroske didn’t learn any lessons from Randy Travis’ naked DUI this week. The former pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn, Michigan was arrested for DUI after a witness called 911 to report that a man was driving completely naked. The Detroit Free Press has reported that when asked why he was driving around unclothed, the Reverend replied, “I was, uh, hot. … I like to drive around naked.”

“I don’t know what to say … I’m embarrassed.”

The Reverend’s clothes were thrown about the inside of his 2002 Volkswagen Passat, and he dressed himself before exiting the vehicle to perform the Field Sobriety Tests requested by the Officer Gafford. Rev. Petroske’s blood alcohol content was .09%, which is above Michigan’s legal limit of 0.08%.

Officer Gafford reported that Petroske did not do well on his Field Sobriety Tests. Petroske recited the alphabet A-L, but stumbled to get to Q accurately, ending with “L, M, N, K, W, X, Y, Z.”

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Petroske was orphaned at a young age, according to The Detroit News. Petroske’s name has been removed from the Sacred Heart Parish’s website. He is scheduled to appear in court on charges of indecent exposure and operating under the influence of alcohol in Michigan.

Lawn Mower DUI in Florida

Lawn Mower DUI in Florida
Lawn Mower DUI in Florida

James David GrayA man was arrested for driving a lawn mower while intoxicated on Tuesday August 7, 2012 in Marion County, Florida. The video released of James David Gray’s traffic stop reveals that he did not have a driver’s license because it was taken away in 1985 due to DUI. James Gray was driving his lawn mower on the left side of a road that had no traffic. The officer informs Mr. Gray that it was illegal to drive against traffic on a lawn mower, and James Gray revealed that he thought it was the side of the road he was supposed to be on. The officer decides to perform a Field Sobriety Test on Mr. Gray, and when Mr. Gray tells the officer that a previous brain surgery effects his equilibrium, the officer chastises Mr. Gray for drinking beer and driving a lawn mower when his equilibrium is affected. Mr. Gray explains that he only receives $459 a month (less than $15 a day) for disability, and he drives his lawn mower to do side jobs to supplement his income.

Mr. Gray said that he stopped at a convenience store to purchase beer because he was hot and depressed. He said he was depressed because he was struggling due to low income. Mr. Gray was arrested and charged with DUI. He returned the lawn mower to his sister, which he had been renting, and had just made his first payment of $127.

Mr. Gray has had four previous DUI convictions and was on felony probation that was scheduled to finish on July 8, 2013. Fourth and subsequent DUI convictions in Florida are subject to permanent license revocation, up to 5 years in Florida State Prison, and up to $5,000 in fines.

During the traffic stop Mr. Gray asked the officer for leniency because he was so close to home. He said, “Sir, would you please give me a break? I just live… not this street, the next street down there. Let me go home.”
