Arizona Judge Arrested For Extreme DUI

Arizona Judge Joseph James Lodge Jr. Arrested For Extreme DUI

joseph lodgeArizona Judge Joseph James Lodge Jr. was arrested for extreme DUI on December 9, 2012 in Coconino County. According to Police, someone had called in after witnessing a man sitting in a parked vehicle who looked either confused or intoxicated. Shortly after, an officer spotted the same vehicle driving south on North Fort Valley Rd and began to follow it. The officer witnessed the vehicle, Lodge’s silver 4Runner, weaving and swirving across a double yellow line toward oncoming traffic and pulled him over. When the officer questioned Lodge, he said that the judge seemed “confused and under the influence of an intoxicant“. After asking the Arizona Judge for his license and registration, the officer said that Lodge pulled a nearly empty bottle of 375ml bottle of vodka from the center console. Lodge had allegedly told the officer that he had taken three prescription painkillers before consuming 3 beers.

Lodge also had trouble getting out of his car and had to be held up by the officer, who noticed that the Arizona judge wasn’t wearing any shoes. The arrest happened around 9:30 am and Lodge admitted to having a substantial amount of alcohol that morning. In the interest of his safety, the officer did not request that Lodge complete any field sobriety tests before arresting him. Lodge handed the officer his business card and identified himself as a superior court judge. The officer then contacted his supervisor and informed him of who he had stopped before placing the judge under arrest. When the officer had initially questioned Lodge, the judge said that he was OK, but having marriage problems. Lodge was transported to the Coconino County Detention Facility where he blew a .229% breathalyzer test, nearly 3 times the legal limit of .08%. A spokesperson for the Coconino County Board of Supervisor’s said in a statement, “This is a difficult time for Judge Lodge and his family and it is requested that his privacy be respected in this matter“. Superior Court Presiding Judge Mark Moran said that Lodge is not currently on the bench and that a replacement judge has stepped in for him.

On Saturday evening, Gunner Belcher, a parking valet took Reggie Wayne’s Bentley for a joyride and was pulled over for a DUI. Sources stated that Wayne, who is a Colts wide receiver, handed his Bentley keys to Belcher to valet park it at the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis. The following morning, the football player returned to the parking garage for his Bentley only to discover it was missing. Sources stated that “Belcher hadn’t parked Wayne’s pricy ride. Instead, he’d taken it out on the town and gotten busted for DWI at 2 o’clock Sunday morning.”

Police officials stopped Belcher, who is only 21 years old, in the 300 block of South Meridian. They noticed he wasn’t wearing a seat belt and talking on the phone while driving. Furthermore, as the police officers approached him, they were able to detect the odor of alcohol on him. They claimed that he “had glassy eyes and slurred speech.” In addition, when police officials stopped Belcher, he told them that he was “driving Wayne’s car because he was his ‘cousin by marriage’.”

Belcher was administered a field sobriety test and failed it. He was apprehended and received several charges for OWI, not carrying a registration, and not wearing a seat belt. Apparently, “hotel employees told police Belcher was released from work shortly before the vehicle was removed from the garage.” It was also stated that Belcher hadn’t clocked out of his shift that night of the occurrence. The Bentley was finally  returned back to the Colts player on Sunday.

Actor Michael Madsen Gets DUI

Actor Michael Madsen Gets DUI

Michael Madsen, one of the starring actors from “Reservoir Dogs”, was recently charged with two counts of DUI from his previous arrest in September.  Sources stated that Madsen had been stopped by police officials while he was “hotrodding around Malibu in his badass Pontiac GTO.” Legal personnel claimed that Madsen failed his field sobriety test when he blew .20 on the breathalyzer, which is roughly more than twice the California legal limit. Perry Wander, who is Madsen’s lawyer, tried to convince legal personnel that the “breathalyzer was ‘flawed’.”

Today, sources stated that “the Los Angeles City attorney filed 2 misdemeanor counts of DUI against Madsen — one for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and another for driving with a BAC of .08 or higher.” If found guilty, Madsen could be imprisoned for two years. However, the actor does not appear to have a history of DUI convictions so it is unlikely that he will be arrested. Wander told the media: “We intend to vigorously defend the charges.” The case proceedings will be continued and presented before a judge during the month of December.

Dallas Cowboys’ Josh Brent Charged with Manslaughter After DWI Crash

Dallas Cowboys’ Josh Brent Charged with Manslaughter After DWI Crash

Josh Brent, Dallas Cowboys football player, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and a DWI. Sources stated that Brent had been driving drunk at the time that he was involved in a late night vehicle collision. The collision resulted in the death of his teammate and passenger, Jerry Brown Jr., who was only 25 years old and enrolled on the Dallas Cowboys’ practice roster.

John Argumaniz, a Dallas police speaker, stated that “the accident happened about 2:20 a.m. Saturday in the Dallas suburb, hours before Brent was to be on a team flight to Cincinnati for the Cowboys’ game Sunday against the Bengals.” It was determined by legal officials that Brent had been driving way past the speed limit, when the vehicle hit a curb and flipped at least once. Argumaniz claimed that when legal personnel arrived at the accident scene, Brent was pulling Brown out of a Mercedes, which appeared to be consumed by flames. Legal personnel was unable to detect whether the vehicle was a car or SUV and the velocity at which Brent had been driving. However, Argumaniz said, “I can say investigators are certain they were traveling well above the posted speed limit.”

Police officers found Brent conscious and able to communicate with them. However, Brown was found unconscious and rushed to the hospital only to be pronounced “dead”. Brent was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed, and was apprehended. Before he was booked into jail, “he was taken to a hospital for a blood draw for alcohol testing and also received treatment for some minor scrapes.” His charge, which was a “second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison, was upgraded after Brown was pronounced dead. Records showed that in 2009, Brent had received previous DWI charges, which resulted in a sentence of 60 days in jail, two years of probation, 200 hours of community service, and a $2,000 fine.

Brent failed to make any comments on the situation. However sources claim that the only thing he stated was: “Jerry Brown was my very best friend, and I’m just trying to deal with his death right now.” Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, told the media: “We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown. At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry’s family and all of those who knew him and loved him.”

DUI Arrest Leads to Drug and Weapon Charges

Sources stated that “an early morning traffic stop led to the arrest of a convicted felon and the seizure of a handgun and about 10 pounds of marijuana.” Police officials arrested Jermaine “J.J” Morgan after they stopped the Chevrolet Trailblazer truck that his wife, Latasha Morgan, was driving. They were stopped outside of their home on Washington Avenue.

It was stated that Latasha  Morgan was arrested for DUI. When Jermaine Morgan got out of the vehicle, he “placed a Taurus .40-caliber handgun on the porch steps leading to his home.” In addition, police officials found $1,058 in cash on him while on custody. After Latasha Morgan’s arrest, she told them that her “children were at home unsupervised.” Legal officers immediately conducted a welfare investigation on their residence, where they were able to detect the strong odor of marijuana. Following this investigation, they ordered a legal warrant to fully conduct a search on the property.

Shockingly, legal officers discovered and seized “$7,124 in cash from a locked safe and 10 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $20,000…and a digital scale.” Sources stated that they were both charged with accounts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture, delivery or possession, and conspiracy to deliver. Furthermore, legal personnel determined that Jermaine Morgan “is not allowed to possess a firearm because of his criminal history – one that includes jail sentences related to a shooting incident at a Roman Catholic church festival… a 1996 aggravated assault in State College…” Latasha Morgan was released from jail on a $50,000 unsecured bail for her DUI, and Jermaine Morgan was released on a $25,000 bail for the firearm charges plus a $50,000 for the related drug offenses. They are both summoned for a court hearing on December 19 at 9 am.
