Two officers with the Portland Police Bureau were arrested for driving under the influence in two separate incidents. On Saturday, November 6, Officer Joshua Sparks was stopped for speeding by the Washington State Patrol and booked for suspicion of DUI. Then on Sunday, November 14, Officer John Shadron was arrested for drunk driving by the Gresham Oregon police after crashing into another vehicle. No one was injured in that accident.

Both officers were off-duty at the time of their arrests. A spokesperson with the PDX says the officers have been placed on desk duty pending an internal review and the outcome of their criminal cases.

D.J. Williams, star linebacker for the Denver Broncos, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Colorado early Friday morning. As a result, hehas been stripped of his team captaincy and will not start in next weekend’s football game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

An off-duty patrol officer with the Decatur Police Department was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence in Illinois on November 6. Around 3:50 in the morning, an Illinois State Police trooper noticed a vehicle not responding to a light turning green and initiated a traffic inquiry.

A Moultrie man was arrested for operating a motorized wheelchair while intoxicated on October 29. Around 9:30 pm, police were alerted to a man panhandling at a gas station. When they arrived at the station, the officers were told the man had wheeled away.

A teacher at Lorain High School in northern Ohio was arrested for drunk driving and cocaine possession. Around 2:15 am on November 5, police attempted to pull over Dominic Fracchione for speeding and crossing the center line. He failed a field sobriety test and a breath test registered a blood alcohol content of .211% – a reading more than two and a half times the legal limit. While being booked at the Lorain City Jail, officers found two bags of cocaine weighing 1.2 grams in Fracchione’s pockets. In addition to the drunk driving offense and moving violations, Fracchione was charged with drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and conveyance of drugs into a detention facility.

The Lorain school district reports Fracchione is on unpaid suspension until the criminal charges are resolved. If convicted, he would face termination.
