Seattle Seahawks Running Back Will Not Face Suspension For DUI

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch will not be facing suspension for a DUI he received during the offseason. Lynch was arrested this past July for DUI in Oakland, California after he was seen weaving in and out of lanes and nearly hitting 2 other vehicles in the process. Lynch’s lawyer claims that his BAC level was not over the legal limit of .08% at the scene of the arrest but only later when he was given a calibrated breathalyzer test at the jail later that night.

Not only did Lynch receive a contract extension during the offseason but NFL officials have decided not to issue any disciplinary measures, if at all, until the case is resolved most likely in 2013. Many professional athletes have been subject to suspensions for legal troubles and the NFL does hold the right to reconsider any action should Lynch get into any more trouble. Lynch has had trouble with the law before and in 2009 plead guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge, resulting in a 3-game suspension with the Buffalo Bills. The Seattle Seahawks still believe Lynch is a valuable asset to the team and reportedly signed him on for a 4 year, $31 million dollar contract as part of his extension in March.
