Woman Gets Arrested For DWI and Killing Boyfriend

In Overland, Missouri, a 21 year old female was arrested for DWI and killing her boyfriend. STLtoday.com reported that the woman, Rachel Collier, will be prosecuted for involuntary manslaughter and DWI. On April 28, Collier told police officers that she and her boyfriend, Desmond Edwards, had been drinking and arguing inside the car…when he got out, she moved to the driver’s seat, started the car and started driving. According to her statement, she was able to catch a glimpse of Edwards in the road but couldn’t stop the car on time because of the speed at which she was driving.

After hitting Edwards, Collier got out of the vehicle and went into a house to tell witnesses of the incident, and it was then that these people called legal authorities. Edwards was taken to DePaul Health Center, where he was later pronounced dead. It was noted that Collier had a blood alcohol level of about .094, clearly violating the legal limit of .08. She received a bail bond of $75,000. Ironically, Edwards’ obituary description listed Collier as “the love of his life.” Edwards, who was only 26 years old, left behind two children of ages 5 and 2.
