Underage DUI: 15 Year Old Arrested For DUI In Reno

reno crashA 15 year-old teenager was arrested for DUI after rolling his car in Reno, Nevada on January 21, 2013. Troopers responded to a crash regarding a rolled vehicle on US 395 at around 6:20 a.m. that was the result of an underage DUI. Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, police learned that the 15 year old suspect was driving his 2005 Ford Focus southbound on the highway near the Parr Blvd on ramp when he drifted off the right edge of the roadway. The car then struck a drainage culvert causing it to roll several times before finally coming to a stop about 40 feet from the highway. Fortunately, the suspect was wearing a seat belt and was not thrown from the vehicle.

Police noticed that the underage DUI suspect displayed several symptoms of alcohol intoxication and did not pass a preliminary alcohol breathalyzer test. The 15 year old was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center following the crash where he was treated for minor scrapes and abrasions. Police briefed the suspect’s mother before he was released and taken into custody at the Jan Evans Juvenile Center. The suspect was then booked for DUI first offense, failure to maintain travel lane, no proof of insurance, minor in consumption of alcohol and no valid driver’s license. Since this is an underage DUI case and the suspect is only 15, DPS policy prohibits the release of his name.
