Two DUI's in 5 Hours

Suspect Drove Self To Police Station Looking For Cell Phone

A 25-year-old Boulder, Colo., man was arrested twice over the weekend for allegedly drinking and driving.

Police cited Robert Kendall Prather with two DUIs.

Robert Kendall Prather was stopped at 12:23 a.m. Saturday after he rolled through a stop sign, Boulder police said. A breath test showed he had 0.21 percent blood-alcohol content, according to the arrest report. Prather was taken to jail and released about four hours later.

He then reappeared at the police station at 5:15 a.m., asking officers if they had seen his cell phone. When they asked how he got there, Prather said he took a cab to his car and then drove himself to the police station.

A second breath test showed a 0.19 percent blood-alcohol content so Prather was arrested again.

California Driver Has Similar Experience

And in Santa Cruz, Calif., another driver was arrested for the second time in three days for allegedly driving under the influence.

Justin Burkett, 24, drove to the local office of the California Highway Patrol Tuesday to retrieve his wallet, which was being held for safe keeping from an arrest two days earlier, according to a CHP press release.

A DUI investigation was performed after the front desk officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol and determined Burkett had driven to the CHP office, according to the release.

Burkett was then arrested again.
