Sunny Cross Arrested for DWI
Nursing student Sunny Cross from MTV’s Catfish: The TV Show was arrested for DWI at 2:40 a.m. She was originally stopped for driving too close to another vehicle and for driving on the wrong side of the road. The traffic stop turned into a DWI arrest after she failed field sobriety tests. The arresting officer reported that she had red, watery eyes and that she smelled of alcohol. At the detention center she failed the Breathalyzer test at 3:39 a.m., blowing a .08%. At 9:39 a.m. Sunny posted a bond of $1,055 and was released.
Sunny appeared on the first episode of Catfish, a reality TV show that focuses on the sometimes inevitable deceit that comes with online dating. Sunny discovers in the episode that her online boyfriend is a girl named Chelsea.
Sunny took to her Twitter account after her arrest. At 8:19p.m. on January 27 she wrote, “Well I guess it’s safe to say last night was an epic fail,” and “At least I’m not in Shawshank Redemption.” However, when Harvey Levin posted to his Twitter that, “The girl who was on the very first episode of the MTV show ‘Catfish’ was busted for DWI”, Sunny took offense and replied, “@HarveyLevinTMZ pretty pathetic u think I’m worthy enough to do a story on me. Find a celebrity to harass. Must be a slow day in the office”.
