Sammi Kraft Killed In DUI Crash

Sammi Kraft, 20, an actress and musician known for her role in “The Bad News Bears” remake starring Billy Bob Thornton, was killed in a crash related to drunk driving on October 10, 2012. Apparently, Kraft was riding as a passenger with her friend Molly Adams on the Santa Monica Freeway when the Audi they were in rear-ended a tractor trailer. After rear-ending the trailer, the Audi was then struck by a Toyota Scion. The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. near the Crenshaw Boulevard exit. Sammi Kraft was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical center where she was pronounced dead due to undisclosed injuries.

Adams was taken to California Medical Center and treated for serious injuries while the truck driver who was rear-ended was only treated for minor injuries. Kraft, who had never acted in a film, was talked into auditioning for “Bad News Bears” because of her amazing baseball skills. In 2005, during an interview about the film, Kraft said, “I throw a knuckleball, a knuckleball curve, a curveball, a changeup, a 70-mph fastball, a two-seam fastball and a four-seam fastball — the whole thing.” Sammi Kraft was also a musician and had recently formed a band called “Scary Girls.” Apparently, she was on her way back from a music show that she had been networking at on the night of the accident.
