nadir barnwellNadir Barnwell, a freshman Cornerback at Rutgers University, was arrested for DWI and careless driving by the Rutgers University Police Department on October 28, 2013. Head coach Kyle Flood has said that Barnwell has been suspended for “a violation of team rules” and will not be playing in Saturday’s game against Temple. According to Lt. Paul F. Fischer, Nadir Barnwell was arrested after police responded to a single-car accident around 3:30 a.m. and found probable cause to arrest the Rutgers cornerback for DWI.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Campus Road and Route 18 North in Piscataway, where police also charged Barnwell with careless driving. Regarding the length of Barnwell’s suspension, Coach Flood says “My plans are for it to be through this week, but it’s not finalized yet. But it will be for this week“. Nadir Barnwell has started 4 of 7 games in his first season and was expected to remain the top cornerback on the roster after the team suffered the loss of senior Lew Toler to a broken arm and freshman Ian Thomas resignation from the team.
