Rockies Owner Charlie Monfort Arrested For DUI

charlie monfortCharlie Monfort, co-owner of the Colorado Rockies baseball team was arrested for DUI on November 4, 2013 in Windsor, Colorado. While police have yet to offer any details on the arrest, Monfort has issued an apologetic statement confirming the arrest. In the statement Monfort says, “I’m extremely disappointed in myself for the decision I made to drink and drive and the potential risk I caused to other innocent people. I do understand the seriousness of my behavior and the issues that I am facing and I’m committed to do what’s necessary to deal with my problem“.

Charlie’s brother, Dick Monfort, has also issued a statement saying “As troubling and intolerable as these actions are, I can tell you that I’m focused on helping Charlie get the resources he needs to overcome this problem“. This is not the first time Charlie Monfort has been arrested for DUI. In 1999, the Rockies co-owner was arrested for DUI, however, his attorney said that a severe case of heart burn had dramatically affected his blood alcohol content(BAC) levels. In that case, Monfort plead guilty to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired and served community service in addition to probation and completion of an alcohol treatment program. It is still unclear if Charlie Monfort performed any field sobriety tests or submitted a breathalyzer in his most recent DUI arrest.
