Repeat DUI Offender Leads Police On Wild Chase

SF dui crashA repeat DUI offender in San Francisco, California was arrested for DUI on November 15, 2012 after leading police on a wild chase. According to police, the chase started around 2 a.m. when a highway patrol officer saw the suspect driving her SUV through a Highway 80 ramp that had been closed for construction. When the patrol officer attempted to pull her over, the suspect exited the freeway at the Mission and South Van Ness. The suspect then turned her headlights off and led the officer on a destructive chase for several blocks.

In the midst of the chase, the suspect hit a truck, smashed into a fence, crashed through a traffic light and finally struck a van before coming to a stop. Police also stated that the suspect hit a parked car that slid into a sidewalk, striking a pedestrian who was walking his bike at the time. Police say that the man hit by the parked vehicle sustained minor injuries while the suspect was taken by ambulance from the scene to be treated for undisclosed injuries. The woman who led the chase now faces possible felony DUI charge, a hit and run charge as well as evading police. Since the woman is a repeat DUI offender, her charges could be enhanced given her 3 prior DUI incidents.
