Ohio Man Makes Citizen’s Arrest to Stop Drunk Driver

Drunk Driving Woman is Stopped Through Citizen’s Arrest

A Scio, Ohio resident, Mark Napier, stopped a woman who was driving drunk down Ohio State Highway 151. The drunk driver, Brandy Hutchison of West Virginia, was dangerously weaving in and out of traffic on the highway. Napier saw her nearly hit four vehicles on the highway and was able to pull his truck in front of her car to stop her. Napier pulled his truck in front of her car near an R&R Gas Station, and another vehicle stopped and blocked her car from behind.

Hutchison was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and driving on a suspended license. She will be arraigned in Harrison County Court on Jan. 22. OVI convictions in Ohio have a range of penalties, with the highest penalties being reserved for those with a BAC over .17%. The fines range from $375 to $1,075 for a first conviction. Under Ohio law, those convicted of drunk driving may be required to drive with yellow license plates that signify the driver as someone with a previous drunk driving conviction.
