NBA Assistant Coach Arrested for California DUI

Mario Elie, assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings basketball team, has been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in California. Around 1:15 Thursday morning, California Highway Patrol stopped Mario in downtown Sacramento for having a broken taillight on his 1993 Mercedes. The officer said he detected alcohol and signs of impairment, and asked Mario to submit to a series of field sobriety tests. Mario reportedly registered a blood alcohol content above 0.08%. He was booked on charges of CA DUI at the Sacramento County Jail.

Mario, 47, is a first year coach with the Kings. He played for seven teams in the NBA during an eleven year career.
