Melrose Place Actress Amy Locane-Bovenizer Heads To Trial For DUI Manslaughter

Melrose Place actress “Amy Locane-Bovenizer was arrested in June of 2010 after an accident involving the death of another driver. Apparently, Bovenizer was driving down a Cherry Hill Road when she crashed into an elderly couple in a Mercury Milan who were pulling into their driveway. The crash killed Helene Seeman, 60, and seriously injured her husband, Fred. The Melrose Place actress had a Blood Alcohol Content(BAC) of .268%, more than three times the legal limit of .08%.

Bovenizer is facing charges for aggravated manslaughter as well as assault by auto. If convicted, she could face 10-30 years in prison. Bovenizer was traveling at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone and witnesses claim to have seen her giggling immediately after the accident occurred. Authorities claim that Bovenizer had 4 glasses of wine and a beer at a party  before driving that night. Defense attorney Blair Zwillman said, “We’re confident going forward”, however, assistant prosecutor Matthew Murphy has been busy preparing a case highlighting Bovenizer’s high BAC level. Jury selection is set for this Tuesday at the Somerville Superior Court while opening statements are scheduled for October 1st.

Defense attorney Zwillman has also highlighted inconsistencies in the amount of alcohol witnesses say Bovenizer had at the party before the crash and the treatment or lack of, the actress received after the crash. Amy Bovenizer was part of the original Melrose Place cast and also starred along side Johnny Depp in “Cry Baby”.
