Manatee County Sheriff Arrested For DUI

manatee sheriff officeKevin White, a Manatee County Sheriff’s deputy, was arrested and charged with suspicion of DUI on May 26, 2013. The incident occurred early Sunday morning after White was pulled over while driving his pickup truck on U.S. 301. According to the arresting deputy, White, who was off-duty at the time, displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication such as red, glassy eyes and slurred speech.

Police also said that witnesses claimed to have seen White’s pickup truck fleeing the scene after crashing into a street sign shortly before being pulled over. The 27 year-old Manatee County sheriff denied the arresting officers request to conduct a field sobriety test and also refused to submit an alcohol breath test at the jail. In addition to being charged with DUI, White also faces a charge for leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. Kevin White has worked with the Manatee County sheriff’s office for 5 years and was placed under administrative leave pending the results of an internal affairs investigation.
