Hillsborough County Judge Pleads Guilty To DUI

tracy sheehanTracy Sheehan, a Circuit Court Judge in Hillsborough County, plead guilty to DUI on August 23, 2013. Sheehan was arrested on July 5, 2013 after police observed her swerving in and out of lanes in South Tampa. Sheehan and her cousin had just consumed several drinks after a night out at several restaurants in Ybor City. When the officer began interrogating the Hillsborough County Judge, he noticed that she displayed watery, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Police also said that a field sobriety test showed several signs of intoxication.

Judge Sheehan was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI, then taken to the Hillsborough County jail. According to police, Sheehan’s blood alcohol content (BAC) level was recorded at .171% and .161%, double the legal driving limit. Judge Sheehan was released the following morning on $500 bail and said in a statement, “It was a horrible, poor choice on my part to get behind the wheel. It will never happen again. Unfortunately, it’s a very poor reflection on the judiciary and that’s what is most regrettable“. Sheehan has been sentenced to 50 hours of community service and one year probation.
