Halloween Will Increase DWI Enforcement

Minnesota’s Austin Herald reported that during this Halloween, DWI law enforcement agencies around the state will increase their presence this weekend to crack down on impaired drivers. This will be conducted by the Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety, in an effort to  decrease last year’s 303 crash deaths of Halloween week.

According to the news story, seven people died, and 27 others were seriously injured in drunk driving crashes during Halloween party weekends from 2008 through 2012. In addition, legal officers made approximately 2,484 DWI arrests during that same time period. DPS Office of Traffic Safety impaired driving program coordinator, Jody Oscarson, stated, “Impaired driving typically rears its ugly head during the Halloween party period…before you put on your costume and head out for the night… have a plan in place for a sober way home to avoid the dangers and consequences of driving drunk.”

If you have been arrested for driving drunk, contact an experienced and skilled Minnesota DWI attorney for legal assistance.
