Former South Florida University WR Arrested For DUI

terrence mitchellTerrence Mitchell, a former wide receiver with South Florida University was arrested for DUI and assault on August 20, 2013 near the South Florida campus. According to police, Mitchell was found passed out in his vehicle, which was facing the wrong way down a street, at around 1:30 am. The police report states that the vehicle was still in drive when police found Mitchell and that he became extremely agitated. When Tampa Fire and Rescue proceeded to examine the former South Florida receiver, he attempted to bite one of the EMT workers, twice.

After trying to bite the EMT worker, Mitchell was read his rights and arrested. Police did say that after he was arrested, Mitchell admitted to having consumed alcohol before driving that night and that he should not have gotten behind the wheel. Police found that Mitchell’s blood alcohol content (BAC) level was .15%, which is almost double the legal limit and that he was also driving with a suspended license. This is not the first time Mitchell has found himself on the wrong side of the law though. Willie Taggart, the new coach at South Florida, suspended Mitchell last spring after the receiver was arrested for marijuana possession. After his suspension from the South Florida program, Mitchell was expected to transfer to Fort Hays State in Kansas but has yet to enroll.
