DWI Suspect Kills 5-Year Old In Crash

vincent gregoryDWI suspect Vincent Gregory was arrested and charged with DWI and felony death by motor vehicle on January 27, 2013 in Henderson, North Carolina. According to police, Gregory was involved in a DWI accident that injured a 22-year old man and killed his 5 year-old son. Richard Stokes and his son Jayden were walking near the 600 block of East Montgomery Street when Gregory hopped a curb and crashed into a telephone pole before striking down the father and son with his vehicle.

According to police, Gregory and Richard Stokes were taken to the hospital and treated for injuries, however, Jayden Stokes was pronounced dead at the hospital. DWI suspect Vincent Gregory is being held at the Vance County jail on a secured bond of $1,001,000. Gregory has been charged with driving while license revoked, assault inflicting serious injury by a motor vehicle, felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired. It is unclear at the moment what Gregory’s blood alcohol content (BAC) level was at the time of the crash or if he was given any field sobriety tests but Henderson police have said that the State Highway Patrol is helping to investigate.
