DUI Suspect Claims Aliens Took Him To Crash Site

DUI suspect Joel Lankford was arrested for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident on January 21, 2013 in Logansville, Georgia. It’s not uncommon to hear about a DUI suspect blaming everything but alcohol after a DUI crash, however, Lankford’s explanation may surprise you. The incident began when officers responded to a call from a woman claiming that someone was trying to kill her and found her bleeding profusely after arriving at a church parking lot. Police also found another vehicle, wheels still spinning and engine still running, in a ditch nearby.

Police inspected the vehicle but found nobody inside it. Maryana Ivaskiv, the woman involved, was treated by EMS while deputies investigated the scene of the crash. Approximately 10 minutes later, police received a call from a home near the scene complaining of a prowler on their front porch. That was when police found Lankford and said that he told them “the aliens brought him there“. According to the police report, Lankford also thought he was in Lilburn, not Logansville. Police noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication such as slurred speech, unsteady balance and an odor of alcohol. Police arrested Lankford for DUI and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office says the incident is still under investigation.
