Drunk Driver Arrested For DUI Has Dead Skunk On Car
Efrain Moreno Alvarez, a drunk driver arrested for DUI in Waynesboro, Virginia, surprised officers with a strange smell coming from his car. On November 11, 2012 police responded to a call by someone claiming that they had seen a driver hit a guardrail on I-64 and continue to drive erratically. The witness followed the driver into a parking lot at the Plaza Azteca, where police eventually arrived and stopped the vehicle. When police approached the driver, Alvarez, they noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from him, however, alcohol was not the only thing that police smelled on the man. Apparently, police officers detected a strong skunk odor coming from the man and his vehicle.
Then, when the officers inspected the van Alvarez was driving, they noticed a bag hanging from the back windshield wiper. Alvarez told the officers that it was a skunk he had killed and was trying to find a place to dispose of the carcass before they stopped him. Police suspected that Alvarez might be intoxicated and gave him a series of field sobriety tests. After performing the tests, Alvarez was placed under arrest for DUI. Police also found that his blood alcohol content (BAC) level was .15%, which is almost double the legal limit of .08%. Alvarez was transported to the Middle River Regional Jail following his arrest.
