Drunk Driver Arrested for DWI at McDonald’s

The Hunterdon County Democrat reported that a man from New York City, Jose Irizarry, was arrested for drunk driving when he was found asleep in his car at a New Jersey McDonald’s drive-through. Apparently, Irizarry was driving a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country in a very idly manner through the drive-through lane when McDonald’s employees noticed him.

After the car appeared to be immobile, the employees contacted police officials.  Sergeant Jim Ryan stated, “Officers who arrived woke Mr. Irizarry and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and noticed he had slurred speech.” The police officers ordered Irizarry to put the van in “parking”, however, he pushed on the accelerator instead. Ryan said, “At this time the officer reached into the vehicle and put the vehicle in park.”

Irizarry confessed that he had been drinking before the incident occurred. He was administered various field sobriety tests and failed them. Consequently, he was received legal charges for a DWI, careless driving, and reckless driving. Irizarry was summoned to appear in court. It was noted that this DWI arrest was one of a dozen in South Brunswick that police have made in recent weeks.
