Daycare Mother Gets Sent To Prison For DWI

Times Record News reported that Holly Marie Wooton, a 33 year old mother and owner of an at-home daycare business in Wichita Falls, Texas, was found guilty of a DWI with a child under 15 years old in the car after being arrested May 16, 2012, at Cunningham Elementary with three children in the van. Wooton will face two years of jail time for the crime.

It is known that on May 16, Wooton was driving with three children (two 1 year olds and one 3 year old) to Cunningham Elementary to pick up one of her children. Upon arrival at the school, one of the faculty members called police officials to report that Wooton was seen acting very strangely. One of the police officers, Justin Miller, stated that Wooton approached him and said, “I’m guilty. I’m drunk. Just take me away.” Wooton was administered several field sobriety tests, all of which she failed. She admitted to smoking marijuana in her bedroom that day…and drinking two 24 ounce beers, but in court admitted to drinking all night then drinking more around lunch time.

One of the mothers of the children in the van and a friend of Wooton told sources that Wooton is someone who needs help with the addiction she is battling, and she has not forgiven her. According to Wooton’s testimony, she acted the way she did because she had recently discovered that her brother had cancer. In addition, she also admitted to having alcoholic problems. Child Protective Services intervened and took her children for a short time until her CPS caseworker spoke highly of her efforts and felt she was fit to raise her children. One of the other mothers told sources, “She took my most precious treasures and treated them like they were nothing.”
