Councilman Charged with Florida DUI in Pasco County

Steven ONeill

Steven O’Neill, a Port Richey councilman, was arrested for driving under the influence in Pasco County after being stopped for speeding.

A Pasco County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over O’Neill for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. The deputy observed slurred speech and bloodshot and glassy eyes, and he detected a strong odor of alcohol. When exiting the vehicle, the deputy also noticed that O’Neill’s crotch was wet.

O’Neill was booked on charges of Florida DUI after reportedly doing poorly on a field sobriety test and two breath tests registered a blood alcohol content of .175 and .165. The legal limit for intoxication in Florida is .08%.

O’Neill was re-elected to the Port Richey city council last month.
