Atlanta News Anchor Amanda Davis Arrested For DUI
Amanda Davis, a news anchor at WAGA in Atlanta, was arrested for DUI on November 11, 2012. According to Atlanta police spokesman Gregory Lyon, the investigating officer arrived at a crash scene on the southbound lane of Piedmont Avenue around 12:20 a.m. that appeared to be a head-on collision. The officer saw a green Fiat, driven by Amanda Davis, facing northbound in the road while the other vehicle, a black Toyota Corolla, was facing southbound. The driver of the Corolla was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for undisclosed injuries.
When the officer began to question Davis, he suspected an odor of alcohol coming from her breath and asked if she had been drinking before getting behind the wheel. Davis responded that she had been drinking, however, when the officer asked her to perform a field sobriety test, she refused. Davis also refused to submit a blood alcohol test and after speaking with her, the officer decided he had reasonable cause to believe that she was driving under the influence of alcohol and placed her under arrest. Amanda Davis was taken to the Atlanta jail and charged with failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, and DUI. After her arrest, the vice president of Fox 5 issued a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and we are currently investigating“.
