geno smithGeno Smith, a cornerback with the University of Alabama was arrested on charges of DUI on Sunday August 18, 2013 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when Smith was arrested by the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office. According to an online arrest report, Smith was held on a $1,000 bond. It is unclear whether or not Smith performed any field sobriety tests or submitted a breathalyzer test as details regarding the arrest and Smith’s blood alcohol content (BAC) level have yet to be released.

Head coach Nick Saban spoke briefly about the arrest, saying, “This is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players. I don’t have all of the details at this point and will handle it appropriately once I’ve had the chance to review the information“. Geno Smith appeared in 13 games during last year’s season with his biggest game being against Georgia in the SEC Championship. Geno Smith had a strong season with 2 pass break-ups and 9 tackles which has led many to worry about his role on the field this year should he be suspended from playing.
