Arrests Down for Texas DWI in San Antonio
Incidents of drunk driving in Bexar County down over Memorial Day Weekend.
City and county law enforcement agencies report a reduction in arrests for driving while intoxicated in San Antonio over the Memorial Day Weekend.
Both the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department and the San Antonio police department engaged in increased patrols for Texas DWI over the weekend. The total drunk driving arrests for the city totaled 1,031, a decrease of 9% from last year. That said, DWI arrests were up in the north and northwest areas of San Antonio.
The crackdown on drunk driving in Texas by San Antonio police included traffic stops considered legal because of implied consent. By simply being given a Texas driver’s license, a motorist in principal agrees to submit to a breath or blood test when asked by law enforcement officer in order to check for blood alcohol content and possible intoxication.
