Shia LeBeouf Undergoes ‘Extensive Hand Surgery’ After California DUI

Actor Shia LeBoeuf caused wreck while driving drunk in Los Angeles.

A spokesperson for Shia LeBeouf has issued a statement confirming that the young actor was involved in an automobile accident July 27 and that he had undergone ‘extensive hand surgery’ for injuries sustained in the incident.

Lebeouf was making a left turn on a red light at 3:00 am when his pick-up truck collided with another vehicle and rolled over. Police reports say that LeBeouf was noticeably intoxicated, and he was arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles. After being booked on misdemeanor DUI, he posted bond and was released.

His passenger at the time of the accident was his ‘Transformers’ co-star Isabel Lucas. She reportedly suffered minor bumps and bruises, though she was able to return to the movie set the next day. LeBeouf, however, will spend a month recovering from the hand surgery before rejoining the filming of ‘Transformers 2’.
