Nicole Richie Completes Jail Term for DUI – Los Angeles DUI Lawyer
Actress Nicole Richie spends just over an hour in Los Angeles County jail.
Reality television star Nicole Richie completed her jail sentence by spending just 82 minutes behind bars. The 25-year old actress had been sentenced to four days in jail for her second California DUI. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said that prison population levels lead to Richie’s early release, and that it was a “standard procedure for nonviolent offenders”.
Richie arrived at Century Regional Detention Facility in suburban Los Angeles, the same facility where Paris Hilton spent 23 days behind bars for her drunk driving probation violation, at 3:15 pm. Richie was released at 4:37 pm. After being booked and processed, she spent only 23 minutes in a jail cell.
Richie was arrested after driving in the wrong direction on a freeway in Burbank last December. She failed a field sobriety test and admitted to having had smoked marijuana and taken the painkiller Vicodin.
Besides being sentenced to jail for DUI, Richie was fined, ordered to attend alcohol and drug rehabilitation classes and sentenced to three years probation. A probation violation could result in up to a year in jail.
Richie starred in the reality television series ‘The Simple Life’. The adopted daughter of Lionel Richie is pregnant with boyfriend Joel Madden, singer of the rock band Good Charlotte.
