Mickey Rourke Rants About Officer in His Florida DUI Arrest
Actor claims the officer’s conduct was insulting during arrest for drunk driving in Miami Beach.
Actor Mickey Rourke has verbally blasted the police officer who arrested him for suspicion of Florida DUI last November, claiming he is “unfit for duty”. Rourke said he is angry about the embarrassing way the officer treated him during the drunk driving arrest.
Rourke was seen weaving in traffic on his Vespa scooter shortly after leaving a Miami Beach nightclub early in the morning. He was stopped by Officer Peter Socarras who had Rourke perform a field sobriety test and then submit to a breath test. The first breath test revealed a blood alcohol content just above the legal limit for intoxication. The equipment was later found to be inaccurate however and a second breath test showed a BAC under the legal limit. The charge of driving under the influence in Florida is expected to be formally dismissed by the Miami Beach District Attorney. Rourke pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving and he was given probation and required to perform community service and pay a fine.
Rourke claims he knows most of the Miami Beach police officers and even they do not like Socarras. The 52-year old actor went on to say that Socarras is “a 400-pound f**k unfit for duty”. He admitted that during the traffic stop he said to Socarras, “F**k you, I’m not drunk,” and presumed the officer retaliated. Rourke said that he was forced to perform multiple breath tests at the police station, which consistently showed a BAC lower than .08%.
A spokesperson for the Miami Beach Police Department, however, defended Socarros conduct, saying that he was just doing his job.
If you have been arrested for drunk driving in Miami-Dade you will need to hire a Miami DUI attorney.
