Follow up to Mel Gibson's California DUI Arrest
Hollywood and movie fans continue to speculate about the fallout from Mel Gibson's DUI arrest and anti-Semitic and sexist remarks.
On the other end of the spectrum Rabbi David Baron has extended an offer to Gibson to speak at his Beverly Hills based Temple of the Arts for Yom Kippur. That is the Jewish Day of Atonement and Baron thought it would be a good opportunity for making amends with the Jewish community and to initiate change in anti-semite bias.
DUI Defense Attorneys Hired – Charges Filed
On Tuesday, August 2, Mel Gibson hired the prominent law firm of Tarlow & Berk to represent him in connection with his DUI arrest in Malibu. The legal defense team from West Hollywood, California has represented numerous celebrities, including Courtney Love, Tracey Morgan, Lindsay Lohan and Halle Berry.
Wednesday afternoon the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office formally filed misdemeanor charges against Gibson for driving under the influence (DUI) and having an open liquor bottle in his car. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail.
Gibson is scheduled to appear in court on September 28, though his attorney may appear in his place. Prosecutors will decide this week whether he will face any charges relating to the DUI arrest.
