Lindsay Lohan DUI Charges

Lindsay Lohan’s California DUI Woes Continue

Actress has arrest warrant dropped after posting bond

Lindsay Lohan could not make a mandatory court appearance on Thursday, May 20 and the presiding judge issued an arrest warrant for the actress. After a bond of $100,000 was posted for her the same day, the warrant was recalled.

Lohan is facing probation violation stemming from the second of her two infamous arrests for driving under the influence in California. Under the terms of her plea agreement she was to attend an alcohol awareness meeting weekly and report her progress to the court regularly. Lohan has routinely snubbed the court, even showing up two hours late for one early morning appearance.

During the latest development, Lohan claimed that her passport had been stolen or misplaced while in France for the Cannes Film Festival. Lohan's defense attorney said that paperwork had been filed with police regarding the loss of the passport, and went so far as to say that his client had intended to attend an alcohol education class the very morning of the scheduled May 20 hearing. Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel dismissed those claims and issued the arrest warrant, stating that "she (Lohan) has a history of…not attending," and added, "If she wanted to be here, she could have been here. There's really no valid excuse." French law enforcement agents have said no theft report has been filed.

Judge Revel indicated that she intends to require Lohan to wear an alcohol detection ankle bracelet and undergo random, weekly drug and alcohol testing. The troubled 23-year old could also be sent to jail.

Despite her pending legal woes, Lohan made the most of her situation, party hopping in the south of France wearing thigh-highs and stiletto heels. She reportedly was at the Cannes festival to drum up support for a film in which she is scheduled to appear, a bio-pic about 70s porn star Linda Lovelace titled 'Inferno'.

Lohan is currently in the third year of probation for a 2007 DUI in Los Angeles, when she pled guilty to having a blood alcohol content above .08%, being under the influence of cocaine and reckless driving.

Warrant for Lohan DUI Arrest is Dismissed

Judge determines that the actress was attending required DUI classes.

The recent warrant for the arrest of Lindsay Lohan was issued on the supposition that the actress had violated terms of her probation stemming from a 2007 California DUI arrest. Lohan is required to attend a substance abuse program and there were reported incidents of absence. Lohan’s lawyer provided documentation that the 'Mean Girls' star had actually switched the location of the required treatment classes, and the judge rescinded the $50,000 warrant.

Lohan is currently attending the 'Right On' program that conducts state licensed education classes for those convicted of driving under the influence in California.

Lindsay Lohan Facing Warrant for Her Arrest

Warrant stems from 2007 California DUI case.

The Beverly Hills Police Department has issued a warrant for Lindsey Lohan’s arrest. The cause for the issuance has not been revealed though it is believed to be in response to a violation of the terms of her probation from a 2007 DUI in Los Angeles. In that incident, Lohan lost control of her Mercedes SL65 and crashed into some shrubs, following a night of partying. Cocaine was also found in the vehicle.

Following the California drunk driving episode in 2007, the starlet was sentenced to three years probation and spent 24 hours in jail. She had also been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

While they admit that they are not actively looking for the 22-year Lohan, police hope to resolve the issue in the coming week, possibly negotiating a voluntary surrender.

A hearing has been scheduled for today at the Beverly Hills Superior Court, though the actress is not expected to appear. Lohan’s CA DUI defense lawyer insists that she has been in compliance with the terms of her probation and calls the warrant the result of a misunderstanding.

Lindsay Lohan Sued Over DUI Ride

Three passengers file claim stemming from 2007 drunk driving incident.

Lindsay LohanIn July 2007 Lindsay Lohan was arrested for California DUI in LA after she jumped behind the wheel of an SUV and chased her assistant in a wild car chase following a late-night private party. The owner of the SUV and two passengers have filed charges of assault and battery against the actress over the event.

According to paperwork filed, Lohan and her assistant Taryn were arguing at the party. Taryn’s boyfriend, Dan, was behind the wheel of Dante Nigre’s 2004 Yukon Denali. He left the SUV to talk to Taryn, but she drove off and Lohan jumped into the driver’s seat in pursuit. Ronnie Blake and Jakon Sutter were in the back seat of the Denali and Nigre was in the passenger seat. At one point Blake managed to get out of the vehicle but Lohan accelerated and ran over his foot. She reportedly answered any pleas to stop with ‘hostile wrath’.

Lohan raced down Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway, running stop signs and red lights, before coming to a stop in the parking lot of the Santa Monica Police Department. She was arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles after failing a field sobriety test. At the time Lohan denied driving the SUV, claiming Sutter was behind the wheel.

Blake, Sutter and Nigre claim violent jarring and whipping motions during the chase caused pain. They are seeking at least $50,000 for negligence, assault, battery, false imprisonment, emotional distress, trespass and slander. Lohan’s attorney asked why the men did not simply get out of the SUv, saying the actress stopped more than once during the episode.

Lindsay Lohan Mugshot Used in DUI Ad

Ad campaign questions need for ignition interlock devices after drunk driving arrest.

Lindsay Lohan

The American Beverage Association paid for an ad campaign that challenges one of the penalties for drinking and driving. Whereas drunk driving is a serious crime, arrest statistics show that a growing number of law enforcement agencies are taking a zero tolerance approach to alcohol and are arresting motorists who are not intoxicated. In several states, an arrest for DUI could result in the mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device.

Using a mugshot of Lindsay Lohan taken last year during one of her arrests for driving under the influence in California, the print ad states that ignition ionterlock devices are appropriate for repeat offenders, like Lohan, but questions their appropriateness for a low blood-alcohol content, first offender. The ad, which appeared in US Today, attempts to make a visual distinction between the traditional image of a chronic drunk driver, who statistically has a BAC more than twice the legal limit, and the person arrested after having a glass of wine with dinner.

The American Beverage Association represents the liquor and restaurant industries, and it promotes responsible social drinking.

Los Angeles DUI News: Lindsay Lohan to Perform Community Service

Lindsay Lohan to Perform Community Service for Los Angeles DUI.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan will be performing the community service part of her driving under the influence conviction by working in a morgue. The 21-year old actress will spend two four-hour shifts at a Los Angeles County morgue. She will spend an additional two days working in a hospital emergency room. The expressed intent is to show her the consequences of drinking and driving.

Lohan was charged with a California DUI in Los Angeles twice last year, within a few weeks. As part of her plea agreement, she was ordered to alcohol rehab and sentenced to four days in jail. The judge on the case though reduced the jail time in exchange for 10 days of community service. Lohan has already worked with the American Red Cross as part of that agreement. She spent 80 hours in a Lynwood correctional facility to satisfy her jail sentence.

Lohan’s mother, Dina, said, “Lindsay will do whatever the judge orders her to do, so she can put this behind her and move on with her life.”

Lindsay Lohan Serves Jail time In California DUI – Los Angeles DUI Lawyer

Actress Lindsay Lohan spends 84 minutes behind bars, but that’s not the record.

Lindsay Lohan Booking PhotoActress Lindsay Lohan checked herself into Lynwood jail in suburban Los Angeles at 10:30 am to serve a minimum 24-hour sentence. That turned into a total of 84 minutes as she was released at 11:54 am.

Lohan was sentenced to jail as part of a plea bargain stemming from two California DUI incidents earlier in the year. Lohan was initially sentenced to four days in jail though that was reduced to two days after she agreed to perform ten days of community service. She was then given credit for time spent in jail during her July car chase event and drunk driving arrest, leaving her with just a 24-hour sentence.

A L.A. County Sheriff Spokesman described Lohan as “nice and cooperative.” She was fingerprinted, photographed, and spent time in a holding area before being released. It is a common procedure for nonviolent offenders to be released from jail early when the facility is overcrowded.

Lohan remains on three years probation and must complete an 18 month alcohol rehabilitation program. She recently began community service, working with the American Red Cross.

For all its brevity, Lohan does not hold the record for shortest time spent in jail by a celebrity. That title belongs to Nicole Richie, who spent 82 minutes in the same Lynwood facility.
