Lindsay Lohan Mugshot Used in DUI Ad

Ad campaign questions need for ignition interlock devices after drunk driving arrest.

Lindsay Lohan

The American Beverage Association paid for an ad campaign that challenges one of the penalties for drinking and driving. Whereas drunk driving is a serious crime, arrest statistics show that a growing number of law enforcement agencies are taking a zero tolerance approach to alcohol and are arresting motorists who are not intoxicated. In several states, an arrest for DUI could result in the mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device.

Using a mugshot of Lindsay Lohan taken last year during one of her arrests for driving under the influence in California, the print ad states that ignition ionterlock devices are appropriate for repeat offenders, like Lohan, but questions their appropriateness for a low blood-alcohol content, first offender. The ad, which appeared in US Today, attempts to make a visual distinction between the traditional image of a chronic drunk driver, who statistically has a BAC more than twice the legal limit, and the person arrested after having a glass of wine with dinner.

The American Beverage Association represents the liquor and restaurant industries, and it promotes responsible social drinking.

Los Angeles DUI News: Lindsay Lohan to Perform Community Service

Lindsay Lohan to Perform Community Service for Los Angeles DUI.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan will be performing the community service part of her driving under the influence conviction by working in a morgue. The 21-year old actress will spend two four-hour shifts at a Los Angeles County morgue. She will spend an additional two days working in a hospital emergency room. The expressed intent is to show her the consequences of drinking and driving.

Lohan was charged with a California DUI in Los Angeles twice last year, within a few weeks. As part of her plea agreement, she was ordered to alcohol rehab and sentenced to four days in jail. The judge on the case though reduced the jail time in exchange for 10 days of community service. Lohan has already worked with the American Red Cross as part of that agreement. She spent 80 hours in a Lynwood correctional facility to satisfy her jail sentence.

Lohan’s mother, Dina, said, “Lindsay will do whatever the judge orders her to do, so she can put this behind her and move on with her life.”

Lindsay Lohan Serves Jail time In California DUI – Los Angeles DUI Lawyer

Actress Lindsay Lohan spends 84 minutes behind bars, but that’s not the record.

Lindsay Lohan Booking PhotoActress Lindsay Lohan checked herself into Lynwood jail in suburban Los Angeles at 10:30 am to serve a minimum 24-hour sentence. That turned into a total of 84 minutes as she was released at 11:54 am.

Lohan was sentenced to jail as part of a plea bargain stemming from two California DUI incidents earlier in the year. Lohan was initially sentenced to four days in jail though that was reduced to two days after she agreed to perform ten days of community service. She was then given credit for time spent in jail during her July car chase event and drunk driving arrest, leaving her with just a 24-hour sentence.

A L.A. County Sheriff Spokesman described Lohan as “nice and cooperative.” She was fingerprinted, photographed, and spent time in a holding area before being released. It is a common procedure for nonviolent offenders to be released from jail early when the facility is overcrowded.

Lohan remains on three years probation and must complete an 18 month alcohol rehabilitation program. She recently began community service, working with the American Red Cross.

For all its brevity, Lohan does not hold the record for shortest time spent in jail by a celebrity. That title belongs to Nicole Richie, who spent 82 minutes in the same Lynwood facility.

Lindsay Lohan 1 Day Jail time In Los Angeles DUI – Los Angeles DUI Lawyer

Actress reaches plea bargain on recent California DUI.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan and her California DUI defense attorneys reached a plea deal with prosecutors on her recent dunk driving and cocaine possession charges. She received a 96 hour jail sentence that was reduced to one day for time already served and the 21-year old actress’ decision to enroll in community service. Both reductions are available to two-time DUI offenders. Lohan was placed on 36 month probation and she must pay a fine, perform 10 days of community service and complete alcohol/drug treatment. The judge also stipulated that Lohan must attend a county coroner program that requires her to visit a morgue and speak to victims of drunk driving.

Confessing she has done things of which she is ashamed, Lohan released a statement through her publicist saying, “It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs. I broke the law and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to the charges in my case.”

Lohan had been charged with seven misdemeanors for two DUI arrests in four months. She pled guilty to two counts of having a blood alcohol content above the legal limit of .08%, two counts of cocaine use, and one count of reckless driving. Two counts of driving under the influence were dropped. Felony charges for cocaine possession were not filed because the amount of drug tested was less than .05 grams.

In May, Lohan wrecked her Mercedes near Sunset Boulevard and fled the scene. Her BAC was above the legal limit and police found cocaine in her car. After six weeks at a Malibu rehab center, Lohan was arrested for California DUI again after chasing a vehicle driven by her former personal assistant. Cocaine was found in her pocket during booking. Lohan is currently in rehab in Sundance, Utah at Cirque Lodge.

There is consensus that Lohan received balanced and fair treatment during the plea negotiations. If she had been convicted of a second California DUI she would have been sentenced to 120 days in jail. If she violates her probation she could be jailed for up to a year.

Lindsay Lohan Arrested Again for Drunk Driving

Actress stopped early Tuesday and charged with California DUI and cocaine possesion

Only a week after finishing a 45 day stint in rehab, Linsday Lohan was arrested and charged with California DUI and possession of cocaine.

The 21-year old actress was questioned by Santa Monica Police shortly after 2:00 am Tuesday morning when the passengers of a black Cadillac Escalade reported being chased by a white Denali SUV. Police located the two vehicles in the Santa Monica Civic Center parking lot, just a block from the police station.

Lohan was behind the wheel of the Denali, and she purportedly failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. Her blood alcohol content registered around .12 percent. The legal limit in California is .08. During a pre-booking search, cocaine was found in her pants pocket. As it turns out, the people in the Escalade knew Lohan but did not realize it was her following them.

Lohan already faces a drunk driving charge for a Memorial Day weekend accident. She has been wearing an alcohol detection ankle bracelet since leaving Promises treatment center.

Lohan was booked on two misdemeanors, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, and two felony charges, drug possession and transport of a narcotic. Bail was set at $25,000 and she remained in custody at dawn.

Lindsay Lohan Booked for DUI

Actress surrenders to police in connection with May accident

Lindsay Lohan was formally booked for suspicion of California DUI stemming from a Memorial Day weekend crash. The 21-year old actress was accompanied by her attorney as she appeared at the Beverly Hills Police Department to be fingerprinted. Lohan was released on her own recognizance.

Lohan wrecked her Mercedes in the early morning hours of May 26, after a night of clubbing, and then left the accident scene before police arrived. Police located her at a nearby hospital where she was being treated for minor injuries. Tests showed her blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit and that she had ingested cocaine. Shortly after she entered Promises Treatment Center in Malibu for rehab for alcohol and drug abuse.

Lohan is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Beverly Hills on August 24.

Lindsay Lohan Enters Rehab

Party girl admits self after weekend DUI

After a wild Memorial Day weekend, twenty year old actress and party girl Lindsay Lohan checked herself into Promises rehabilitation center in Malibu.

Lohan wrecked her Mercedes SL-65 on Sunset Boulevard around 5:30 am Saturday after an evening of partying. She was taken in another vehicle to nearby Century City Hospital with minor chest injuries. Police located her there and arrested her for suspected California DUI. Investigators later found what was described as a useable amount of cocaine in Lohan’s car. Less than 48 hours later she was photographed passed out in DJ Samantha Ronson’s car around 4:00 am after another evening on the town.

Lohan was driven to the Promises facility by her attorney, Blair Berk. A spokesperson for the actress cited the seriousness of the situation and said Lohan was seeking ‘intensive medical rehabilitation’.

Lohan previously entered rehab after collapsing at a post Golden Globes party last January. She has been involved in a number of alcohol related incidents and was chastised by the director of her most recent movie ‘Georgia Rule’ for excess partying that lead to delays in filming.

Lindsay Lohan Wrecks Mercedes After Lesbian Charged Fight

Early morning accident leads to California DUI charges (minor under the influence) and several felony charges.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan was arrested for California DUI after a Saturday morning accident on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The young actress and renowned party girl spent Friday night and the early hours of Saturday at several clubs and party houses before getting into her Mercedes SL65 convertible around 5:30 am and promptly crashing it into a curb and a hedge.

Lohan, 20, was at Les Deux nightclub until 3:00 am before heading to a private party house in the Hollywood Hills owned by Koi restaurateur Nick Hawk. Witnesses describe her as quite inebriated when she left for yet another stop at the Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel. She departed that bar around 4:45 am for her condominium. To this point she was being driven by her bodyguard Jaz.

There are reports that DJ Samantha Ronson, who recently has been rumored to be a lover of Lohan's, walked out of Lindsay's place around 5:15 am. Lohan, and an unidentified male, followed her in her Mercedes. The two women were witnessed screaming at each other by a paparazzi photographer, and Lohan called Ronson an 'f-bomb lesbian bitch.' Ronson then got into the car and Lohan sped off rapidly in her 600 horsepower car, only to veer sharply at an intersection seconds later, hit a curb and crash into a hedge.

Lohan's bodyguard drove the damaged car back to the condo and Lohan was taken in another car to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. That is where police found her after a 911 call.

The Beverly Hills Sheriff's Department has not commented on Lohan's blood alcohol content. A 'usable amount' of cocaine was found in the wrecked car, though it is not clear whether it was carried by Lohan or her passengers.

The case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office, and Lohan faces several felony charges and a misdemeanor charge of being a minor under the influence. She is due to be arraigned August 24.
