Teacher Arrested for Alabama DUI on Way to School

Former teacher of the year was seen drinking from a cup while driving.

A teacher on her way to work September 1 was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Alabama. Around 8:00 in the morning Suzanne Morrison was observed driving erratically on Interstate 10 and drinking from a cup when she was stopped by law enforcement officers. The officers detected a strong odor of alcohol and initiated a DUI investigation. A cup with alcohol was found in the vehicle and Morrison failed a field sobriety test. She also submitted to a breath test though the results are not known.

Morrison is a former Teacher of the Year at the Chickasaw School of Mathematics and Science. She was reportedly on her way to work for the Mobile County School System when the traffic stop was initiated. Morrison was booked on charges of DUI in Alabama at the Mobile County Metro Jail. As of Tuesday evening she remained in jail on $1000 bond.

The county school system said that Morrison, 42, had been placed on administrative leave until completion of the police investigation and the breath test results for confirmation of intoxication.
