Task Force to Target Motorists for Alabama DUI
Special anti-drunk driving team to be activated across the state during the holiday weekend.
Motorists suspected of drunk driving in Alabama will be targeted across the state during the Fourth of July weekend. The Alabama Department of Public Safety has announced that all available troopers from both state and local law enforcement agencies will be on patrol during the 78-hour holiday.
Dubbed ‘Task Force Zero’, the teams will be looking for aggressive drivers, those who break traffic laws and motorists suspected of driving under the influence in Alabama. Over last year’s extended Fourth of July weekend there were nine traffic fatalities. About half were attributed to drunk driving.
The task force will conduct extra patrols between 6:00 pm Thursday and midnight Sunday.
