Alabama Highway Crackdown Nets Over 21,000 Tickets
State-wide campaign targeted traffic offenses, including Alabama DUI.
Alabama State patrol troopers have concluded their state-wide traffic blitz. Titled ‘Take Back Our Highways’, the seven day campaign ended last Sunday night. In total, troopers handed out 21,701 traffic tickets and 2,318 warning tickets. 40% of the tickets were issued for speeding. 203 motorists were charged with driving under the influence in Alabama.
The totals also indicated 577 highway accidents and 12 deaths across the state.
This is the second year that the Alabama Department of Public Safety has conducted the campaign.
