Actor Jeffrey Wright Arrested For DWI

Actor Jeffrey Wright Arrested For DUI

Actor Jeffrey Wright, of the newest James Bond films, was arrested and charged with DWI on April 27, 2013 in New York, New York. The incident happened after Wright was pulled over on Saturday morning around 3 a.m. in Manhattan’s Lower East Side after police observed him driving erratically. The actor was allegedly speeding and may have almost caused an accident as a result of his erratic driving. When officers initially questioned Wright, they detected an odor of alcohol on his breath and conducted a series of field sobriety tests.

Wright failed the sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. It is unclear whether or not police also gave the actor an alcohol breath test or what his blood alcohol content (BAC) level was at the time of the arrest. This is not the first time Jeffrey Wright has faced legal trouble though. In 2008, Wright and fellow “W” actor Josh Brolin were arrested after trying to stop police from arresting a fellow crew member at a bar in Los Angeles, California. Jeffrey Wright will next appear in “Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, the sequel to the box office hit “Hunger Games”.

Reese Witherspoon And Husband Arrested In DUI Incident

Reese Witherspoon And Husband Arrested In DUI Incident

reese witherspoonActress Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth were both arrested following a DUI incident on April 19, 2013 in Atlanta Georgia. The incident occurred early Friday evening after a state patrol officer observed the vehicle being driven by Toth weaving in and out of lanes. After pulling the couple over, the officer noticed that Toth displayed several symptoms of alcohol intoxication such as red, glassy bloodshot eyes, droopy eyelids and had an odor of alcohol about him. According to the trooper, Toth admitted to having had a drink at a restaurant a couple hours prior to being pulled over.

In his report, the officer said that Witherspoon initially got out of the vehicle when her husband began performing a series of field sobriety tests, but got back in after being told by the officer to do so. The officer adds that when Witherspoon got out of the vehicle a second time, he told her she would be arrested if she did it again. It was at that time that the actress, who was intoxicated as well, began to hang out of the window saying she didn’t believe he was a real officer. Officer Pyland wrote in his report, “I told Mrs. Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet“. After performing an alcohol breath test, Pyland found that Toth had a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .139% and placed him under arrest for DUI. It was at that time that Reese Witherspoon got out of the car and asked the officer, “Do you know my name?“, to which he replied, “No, I don’t need to know your name right now“. Then, Witherspoon told officer Pyland that he was about to find out who she was and that he’d be on national news. Pyland says “I advised Mrs. Witherspoon that was fine“. Officer Pyland proceeded to arrest the actress as well and both were taken to jail. Witherspoon was charged with disorderly conduct and released in time to make it to a movie premiere on Sunday in New York.

Reese Witherspoon has since released a statement apologizing to the officer for her actions. In the statement, Witherspoon says “I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said,” Witherspoon said. “It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior“.

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford Will Not Face DUI Charges

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford Will Not Face DUI Charges

jacoby fordJacoby Ford, a wide-receiver with Oakland Raiders, was arrested for DUI on March 14, 2013 but will not be facing DUI charges after all. According to the Contra Costa Times, Oakland authorities have said they will not be pressing charges against the NFL player after reviewing the reports submitted by the California Highway Patrol. Prosecutors didn’t give any specific reason regarding the dropped charges and a spokesman for the Raiders said that “The Raiders organization is aware of the situation involving Jacoby Ford and takes matters such as this very seriously“.

Ford was pulled over for speeding and excessively tinted windows, however, upon questioning him, the officer noticed several symptoms of alcohol intoxication. Ford was given multiple field sobriety tests, all of which he failed. Since Ford will not be prosecuted for DUI, it is likely that he also won’t be facing any disciplinary action by the NFL, which has suspended players in the past for incidents occurring off the field. Multiple players have been charged with DUI offenses within the last year including Jay Ratliff and Josh Brent among others. Jacoby Ford is expected to play in the upcoming season despite missing all of the 2012 season with a foot injury.
